Jesus has called us to make disciples on the college campus.

The mission of Resonate Church is to introduce college students to Jesus. We believe that the most effective method to do that is by planting churches. Our goal is to see students meet Jesus, disciple them to be like Jesus, and send them out on mission for Jesus. With churches planted on 7 campuses in the northwest, we are training teams of students to go with new church plants each year.

OUR MISSION

Resonate Church exists to connect the Gospel to people, people to community, and community to mission.

We are partnering with Resonate Church to help reach the students of Eastern Washington University with the Gospel. God has called us from our home in Seattle to be on mission at Resonate Cheney where we will pursue students with the Gospel, disciple them in their faith, and equip them to live lives on mission wherever they go.

WHY THE COLLEGE CAMPUS?

There are over 21 million college students in school each year. We believe that reaching college students will have a long-term ripple effect on culture as they spread out to every part of the world to work hard and be on mission. We have the opportunity to train and send out hundreds of disciples ready to live their life on mission wherever God takes them.

HOW DO WE REACH COLLEGE STUDENTS?

  1. Reach the non-believing student. Every year we strategically build relationships with students that will allow us to have Gospel-conversations with them. We hang out at Freshman Orientation, help students move in and out of their dorms, and throw events to build relationships. Ultimately, WE go to THEM to be a friend and invite them in. Our goal is to build friendships and to let them see how our lives are different so that we can share with them why! (Spoiler: it’s because of Jesus).

  2. Discipleship through community. All believers are invited and encouraged to go deeper. We don’t get discipled for a season to check a box, we are disciples for a lifetime. We help students to establish communities that we call a “Family on Mission.” These families get together to ask each other: “What is God saying to you? And, what are you going to do about?” and then hold each other accountable to be obedient in those things. They also organize strategic opportunities to reach non-believing students. By hosting dinner parties, events, and being present on campus these Families on Mission will have Gospel-conversations with non-believing students; for a lot of them, this is the very same way that they came to know Jesus.

  3. Equip disciples to live lives on mission wherever they are sent. Mission is not only for the missionary. We are all called to live lives on mission. Whether a student joins a church planting team, or moves to a big city to start a career, we send them out with the tools and training they need to effectively reach others with Jesus wherever they go.

As the Father has sent me, even so I am sending you.
— Jesus (John 20:21, ESV)

DID YOU SAY CHURCH PLANTING?

Resonate has a big vision to plant churches on college campuses all across North America. One of the ways that we send students out is on church-planting teams. We believe that the most effective way to reach a campus is to establish communities of Families on Mission: the church. Every year we are sending more and more teams to plant churches.

Resonate’s fourth church-plant, Cheney was founded in Fall of 2015. Our campus is sending out its first church planting team Fall of 2018! Once they are sent, we will begin training the next team, and the next team… By 2021 Resonate will have planted 21 churches on 21 college campuses across North America (Learn more about 21X21). And we won’t stop there. Students are invited to join staff as church-planters, or to get jobs in future church planting cities where they can be a part of this movement.

The purpose of all of this is not to build a big organization, or to lift high the name of Resonate; it is to reach the world with the gospel of Jesus.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.
— Jesus (Acts 1:8, ESV)
