Prayer

  • Wisdom beyond our years (because we don't have many years). Just going to keep asking for this!
  • Students would not take a break from their spiritual growth during Winter Break.
  • Portland SERVE Trip, Dec. 8-12th.
  • Baptism service this Sunday!
  • For our Village Leaders, that they would grow in their leadership abilities, be encouraged, and would see those they are connected to decide to follow Jesus.
  • For a joy that is rooted in Christ for our staff and students, and that all motivation to share the Gospel would be rooted in that.
  • God to provide financial support partners for an additional $500/month.

What's been happening?

The last two months have been packed full of events big and small; some local, some gathering leaders from every site in one location. It has been a joy to be a part of many of these, and to celebrate what God is doing, not just in Cheney, but accross the PNW!

Village Leader LLC

250 student leaders from across the PNW came to Pullman for our annual Village Leader LLC. This is a conference-style event where these leaders receive training, swap stories, and make a missional plan for how to more effectively reach their campus with the Gospel.

These events are so powerful! It is likely that those in this room will be future church-planters, staff members, pastors, international missionaries, and workplace missionaries. Please pray for these leaders as they learn what it looks like to live "lives on mission" and make decisions about how they want to do that after college.

HitchHikers

HitchHikers is an event put on by the North American Mission Board (a part of the SBC) that connects future planters, college ministers, and other ministries who would benefit from learning from the success and mistakes of another ministry. It is hosted at various ministry locations, and this year Resonate had the privilege of being the host.

It was a joy to be a part of this event, and to even host some of my family at it! Pastors and leaders from all across the USA were in attendance. It is our hope as a church to share anything and everything that we have learned with others in hopes that the kingdom would advance even further.

What's next?

Baptism Service (Dec. 2nd)

This Sunday we are having our first Baptism Service of the year! Four students will share their story, declare Jesus as their Lord, and be baptized. Please pray that this would be a great celebration and that some in attendance would be interested in learning about Jesus after witnessing these baptisms.

Portland Serve Trip (Dec. 8-12th)

Two student leaders will be taking a trip with 20 students to Portland to serve the city. Most of these students are freshmen, and some are not yet believers. It is our hope that this trip might catalyze some Gospel conversations and lead to freshmen deciding to follow Jesus! Please pray for safety and Gospel fruit.

Winter Break (Dec. 7th - Jan. 7th)

Winter break is a weird season for students. Some go home for the whole month, others stay in town. It's a time when many are tempted to take a break from their personal spiritual development as well. Please pray for us as we lead during this season, that we would help students to keep their eyes on Jesus and know him more deeply through the break.

The Hoeks on Vacation

We were blessed to take a family vacation that included time with friends in Texas (Jules first airplane ride!), time just the three of us in Port Angeles, and culminated with a great Thanksgiving Day celebration with our family! We feel rested and are excited to be back in Cheney!
